Developed method to characterize the dielectric properties of nanoparticles; Derived relationship and formula between the electronic nature of nano-sized dielectric particles and their dielectric properties in polymer matrix for dielectric applications.

MS&T, USA (August 2007 – May 2011)
Dissertation Title – “Interfacial Effects on Dielectric Properties of Polymer-Particle Nanocomposites”
  • Modified the surface of nano-sized inorganic particles based on electron donating/accepting nature of coupling agents to enhance energy storage density and overall dielectric properties of their composites in polymer matrix
  • Modified the surface of nano-sized inorganic particles using coupling agents to achieve covalent interface for improved dielectric breakdown strengths and energy densities of their composites in polymer matrix
  • Characterized surface modified particles using TGA, FTIR, XPS and XRD; dielectric composite films using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), DSC, impedance spectroscopy, and high voltage generator for measuring dielectric breakdown strength
  • Synthesized and characterized various tacticity polymers using DSC, NMR and studied their free volume influence on electrical properties.
